The Executive Body of the Goa State Chess Association meets on Sunday to contemplate action to be taken against Shrikant Barve, founder of the Taleigao Chess Academy. In an outburst on the internet, Barve has attacked the All India Chess Federation and in particular its current President - N. Srinivasan.

Srinivasan, who is also the Treasurer for the BCCI, has been questioned by Barve as to the treatment of Grandmasters who will be coaching various upcoming players under the anvil of the new AICF Coaching scheme. Barve asks why six crores are spent on Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the India Cements Chennai IPL team whereas the Grandmasters are sanctioned only one thousand rupees a day for the coaching they will provide.

Augusto Pinto, the Acting Secretary of the GSCA, has already written to Barve to explain the reasons of his personal attack on the AICF President. It is well known that the GSCA has enjoyed excellent relations with the AICF, and the Goan players have been granted tremendous facilities at the national and international level by the Federation in the recent past.

Parents of the players have written to Pinto asking for strict action against Barve. They are keen that the relations between GSCA and the AICF should in no way be soured and the Goan children should get the maximum benefits of the coaching scheme. Mrs. Sujata Kaisary, mother of Umang Kaisary, has in an email mentioned that the fees paid to the coaching Grandmasters is infact an 'internal matter' between the AICF and the Grandmasters and in no way any member of the chess fraternity needs to comment on it adversely.
