It is good that a few people stand up to the land mafia whose land deals are
most likely illegal
in Goa given the prevailing climate. George

Wendell says no to Times 'Goa property show' in Delhi

NT Staff Reporter
Panaji, March 7

The widely promoted "Exclusive Goa Property Show" in New Delhi, organised by
Times Business
Solutions Ltd., an enterprise of the Times of India Group, looked headed for
some controversy
with Goa's internationally reputed fashion designer, Mr. Wendell Rodricks
turning down an
invitation to open the show.

The property show described by the company as a "Premium real estate event" is
billed as one of
the biggest shows for developers interested in selling and buying properties in
Goa.

Addressing a press conference at the historic Azad Maidan in the city this
morning, Mr. Rodricks
said, "I am alarmed and concerned, and implore and beg Goan developers not to
sell the land for
money but to undertake development which would support progress of the tourism
sector."

Mr. Rodricks further said that the government needs to take steps and position
as to what is the
unique selling point (USP) of Goa. "The government has to take a stand as
regards the people who
are coming here and trying to kill the main ingredient (read as identity)," he
said, adding "which
would result in properties coming up on the green hills."

Informing that around 60 developers have been invited to participate in the
"Sell Goa" fair, Mr.
Rodricks said," This is our land and someone else is selling it."

Mr. Raju Dham of Times Business Solutions Ltd. associated with the mega land
fair told 'The
Navhind Times' this evening that the show is scheduled to be held at the Tivoli
Gardens,
Chattarpur Road, New Delhi, on March 15 and 16.

Preparations have already started for this event with an enclosure being
constructed including 33
stalls for the land developers.

Magicbricks.com, the advertisement property website of Times Business Solutions
Ltd, Times of
India Building, 7 Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, New Delhi, has provided details of
the Goa Property Show
stating that, " There exists a huge demand for Goa properties in Delhi and we
would like you to
tap this investor base."

"In our constant endeavour to tread into uncharted territories, we are
exploring areas like never
before, to offer new growth areas to the investor community," the website adds.

Interestingly, the website also lures the customers, "A house in the
countryside with an attached
beach, coconut trees for company and the cascading of the water of the sea with
its fun filled
breeze, is the stuff of dreams."

Buying property in Goa is a dream come true for anyone who desires a peaceful
life, perfect
landscape, tropical climate and palm-fringed beaches.

Goa is a preferred place for a second home investment, with the prices of the
land and the
apartments skyrocketing in the process. One will have to shell out Rs. 40 lakh
for a 3
bedroom-hall-kitchen apartment at a prime location in a town like say Mapusa,
with a similar
apartment at a prime location in Panaji costing between Rs. 60 to Rs. 75 lakh,
as per the
rate-charts available on various real estate websites.

There are many other places with magnificent beaches extending from Maharashtra
to Kerala but what
sets Goa apart is it's western touch, and the land developers are just taking
advantage of this fact.
