The recent deaths of foreign tourists in Goa is only the tip of the ice-berg of the future tourism prospects in the State.
No doubt Goa's scenic beauty beckons the national and international tourists to this tiny twentyfifth state on the West coast of India, which has earned it the status of the fifth MOST FAVOURED DESTINATION However with the unbridled inflow of persons of various nationalities domestic and international the growing nexus between the anti-narcotic cell of the local police and the drug cartel can do very little to curb the ills of tourism, resulting in the relegation of "mysterious deaths" as "A final" in criminology jargon What is worse is that unlike the Goan temperment as witnessed in the four coastal talukas of Goa under 451 years of Portuguese rule -- which is largely described as a cultural mix of east with the west; the large number of domestic tourists from rest of the Indian states maintain an "overtly conservative" mindset. These domestic tourists from outside the State of Goa who descend in Goa therefore are at a cross roads with the liberal permissive Western lifestyle of international women tourists, and local women in the state and as a result these women are viewed as "easily available objects for sex" Considering that the spate of attacks on tourist has been the cause of the conflicts in mindset; we at SGPIAG have issued a travel advisory for all tourists visiting the State.
