Dear Dr. Ferdinando, You touch upon the most relevant points of the mystery that is agitating the minds of the people in Goa and, I believe, the British press. I have interpersed my comments below.

Dr.: In the recent Scarlet Keeling murder case at Anjuna, a lot of questions are left unanswered, which bring to the fore incompetence or utter corruption; and it is left for the people to conclude. Comment: No one will accept the allegation of incompetence. The "final" or supplementary Report of the autopsy issued on 06 March, 2008 shows that Dr.Silvano Dias Sapeco knew exactly what had happened to Scarlett ... BUT did not put it in the official autopsy report on 18 February, 2008. The timing of its issue is obviously an attempt to scuttle the second autopsy, which was fortunately for justice, already ordered. The front page report in at least one English newspaper on Saturday 08 March is at least a part defence of the doctor. So is the editorial that followed on Monday following. That this supplementary report was suppressed by the Police only reinforces the lack of incompetence. these are well planned, coordinated and executed moves of Chess players. Dr.: Were the police ignorant that consented sex with a minor amounts to rape? Comment: The difficulty is greater in awakening one who is only pretending to be asleep. Some time ago it was alleged that a newspaper Editor in Goa had molested a MINOR maid servant in his house. In a few days, the maid became a MAJOR ... with RETROSPECTIVE effect. Now the Goa Police has requested an OSSIFICATION test to re-fix the age of Scarlett Keeling. If the precedent is any guide, Scarlett will also turn into a major as on midnight of 17-18 February, 2008. Then the charges of Statutary rape, serving alcohol to minor, harbouring a minor , etc will evaporate like mist at sunrise. So what if her passport states that she is 15 years of age? She is the daughter of a Romany [gypsy] woman who lives in a caravan .... and might have registered the birth after three years or more. Are not football players from Goan schools declared over-aged during national tournaments, inspite of fool-proof birth registration system in Goa's towns since the colonial days? Dr.: As it was reported that she was found semi-nude with slippers and underwear elsewhere, was she forcefully raped by one or more before being done to death by drowning? Comment: It is reported that Scarlett's body was FULLY nude, save a bikini top thrown over her neck. Thus, SEMI- nude is a misleading term. The second autopsy says "drowning cannot be ruled out" ...not that it is definitely the cause of the death. Dr.: It was reported in a section of the press that there were witnesses to the assault, but have left Goa for fear of their lives. Who are the people who have the power to be a threat to the lives of witnesses? Comment: The most powerful threat to a witness is, ironically, the Goa Police. The cops can hold you back as an essential witness. A simple act of impounding the passport is enough ...and legal. The drug Mafias are the other threat. Sometimes, it can be difficult to distinguish between the two ..... or three. Dr.: It was also reported that the first autopsy report had a supplement attached. Why should there be a supplement? Was this procedure dictated so that jugglery could be done? Comment: The "supplement" was NOT attached, but sent much later in a separate sealed envelope. The FAQ is whether there is a legal provision for "supplementary" report of an autopsy and, if yes, which of the two reports is to be relied on? The other FAQ is why was the supplementary report issued after 18 days of the first? The third FAQ is whether the supplemantary report, issued on a holiday, was an OFFICIAL document or personal view as an afterthought? Dr.: Goa has turned totally commercial even in fields of the Fourth Estate, Law and sadly even Medical. The news that is fed to the public through the dailies is seldom the bare facts; but gossip, with added salt and spices. Comment: This is largely true. There is also the BARTER system [I helped you then, now you help me] and the SYMBIOSIS [Let's help each other and prosper. What are a few lives anyway?]. Not everything is monetized. The Fourth Estate is currently in the ONE-UPmanship and the eternal support of "Contacts" for future information. The other problem is the dependence on Press notes for content ...often because of poor command over language and inability to think for oneself. This has almost become an addiction with some persons who pretend to be journalists ...or draw salaries on such a pretense. ;-) Was the "accident", in which the former head of the Forensic Dept of GMC died, spontaneous or contrived? Perhaps, his former student and current successor will recollect the event.
