I am surprised that Sanskrit is still the mother tongue of some people today, let alone in Goa. Regarding Marathi, it is quite likely that a significant number of these respondents are actually Konknni speakers who regard their mother tongue simply as a dialect of Marathi. Also, these data do not include those whose mother tongue is Portuguese or English. There must be a fair number of such people. Considering that there are habitual Sanskrit speakers, it would be interesting to find out if there are some whose native language is Latin. Cheers, Santosh P.S.
