How is it that Murli Sagar is out in the ocean with Julio ... and the Goa
Police is playing the 'bansuri' of ONLY Samson and Placido at the Clangute
Police station? Can they not blow at the right angle to get the same music with
a murli as with a bansuri [flute]? Perhaps, Remo Fernandes can share a few
notes with the MLA of Siolim.

Michael Anthony Mannion, also known as Mike Masala, a key witness in the
murder of Scarlett Keeling, has finally come forward.The witness had been on a
run from his friends who threatened to kill him. ''I am not completely happy
that I did not intervene that night. It is not an easy burden to carry,'' he
adds.
As Mannion let go of his baggage of guilt, the role of Murli, a close friend of
the Anjuna sarpanch Edwin, has been brought back into focus. In his statement
to the police, Mannion said that Murli, Shanaboy and Luis were in the kitchen
area of the shack and Scarlett joined them. At about 5am, Murli promised to
escort Scarlett back to Curly's shack and assured him that she would be safe.
He adds, ''I noticed five minutes later that Samson had left the shack. At that
point, I saw Murli driving away on a scooter and in the beam of the headlight
of the scooter, I saw Samson on top of Scarlett. It appeared that Samson was
trying to remove Scarlett's clothes.''
In the wake of the statement of Mannion, Murli can no longer be a mystery man
in the shadows. Right from the start, this case has received national and
international attention
Meanwhile, agency reports say that Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat will brief
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the Scarlett death case on Tuesday afternoon.

Theme 3: Tourism
Question 10: Our tourism policy has been thoughtless and
directionless. Goa is now seen as a hotbed of drugs, rave parties.
It has become a trash can that has attracted the worst elements
from India and abroad. Coastal Bardez, Morjim, Arambol are
as good as independent territories. There was no effort to
shape the tourism policy meaningfully during your tenure.
Instead we heard you tout Goa as a 365-days destination.
Are we going to live with this kind of tourism the rest
of our lives?
- Why did you not put an end to rave parties during your tenure?
Question 12: The tranquility in our villages is increasingly
becoming a thing of the past with the high levels of noise
pollution.
- Our beaches have become encroachment zones with shacks
and huts and the associated litter and garbage. No longer
can we Goans go take a quiet walk on any of our beaches.
What do you propose to do about this?
Theme 4: Migrants, Population Freeze
Question 14: Among the most noticeable changes in the
past couple of years has been the dramatic increase in migrants.
We are being hit from both the ends: the rich outsiders
seeking to buy Goan homes, apartments and land, and the
unskilled, poor migrants looking for work. Goa cannot
sustain these levels, especially of the poor migrants who
now come not only from Karnakata and Maharashtra, but
from Bihar, UP, MP, AP, Jhakhand, W Bengal, Rajasthan ? just
about everywhere. How will you deal with the migrant
menace that threatens to swamp Goa and obliterate our
unique identity, our peace and our quality of life?
