Migrants gone, Manipur faces labour pain
IMPHAL/KOLKATA: The immediate fallout of the recent killings of North Indian
migrants in Manipur, is an exodus of migrants, leaving "sons-of-the-soil" in a
tight spot with no barbers, cobblers, washermen and porters.
Migrant workers dominate the labour force of the state's service sector, with
almost 90% of the barbers, cobblers and washermen coming from Bihar.
