Dears,

The Entertainment Society of Goa, with the young and dynamic Agriculture
graduate, Nikhil Umakant Desai, as its CEO has decided to screen KONKANI films
during the long weekend 28 to 30 March, 2008. For registering, please call Ms.
Shanti on 0832-2428 111 to 115 beginning Monday 24 March.

The films to be exhibited include:

  # ALEESHA [Produced and Directed by Rajendra Talak] with Prashanti Talpankar
[lecturer at DMC-Assagao and, incidentally,Sandesh Prabhudesai's wife] playing
a stellar role as a supporting actress.
If you want to see stunnig aerial views of open-cast iron ore mines,
experience the horror of accidents by mining trucks, feel the anguish of the
poor people in mining areas, see the opulence of the mine-owner's homes and
have an insight into their mentality, this is the film to see. Do not get
carried away by the subliminal message that the educated, non-Goan
daughters-in-law of Goan mining magnates are bringing in winds of change and
reform in the minig sector. with many years of experience in these areas, I can
vouch that this is as far from the truth as lightning is from a lightning bug.
this is a MUST SEE film for anyone who wants to understand the mining
environment without getting ones clothes red and nose full of dust. The
storyline is good and has a girl, then a student of Government
College-Khandola-Marcela, in the lead role.

  The other films are

  # SHITU [Directed by Rajendra Talak]
  #KANTYANTLEM PHOOL [Arnold D'Costa]
  #WIZMIT[Arnold D'Costa]
  #DAULAT [Jyoti Kunkolienkar]
  #GAURI

Incidentally, Jyoti Kuncolienkar, who like my friend Nikhil and me worked in
the Directorate of Agriculture before charting a new course, is famous among
the women's groups for "Katha Asturi" with Prashanti Talpankar.
