Goa: Goa's bright and sunny image has got a lot darker with the Scarlette Keeling murder and now a Goan is doing what he can to sensitise people to the harmful effects of drugs. Remo Fernandes, always known for his social sensibilities, has come out with an anti drugs drive that too in a typically Remo style. The song the singer wrote 22 years back will be back soon with a new reference and fresh message. Remo wrote the song when he was young to expose drugs mafia in Goa. The song has now acquired relevance again with Scarlette murder case exposing the nexus in beach belt in Goa. And Remo says that the nexus is much more dangerous than the older days. So known for his social activism Remo is up against this nexus again with his sharpest weapon-----his music. He will be re-releasing his two anti-drugs songs in coming days. "I am going to re-release the songs in coming days. I will put these songs on website for free downloading. The message needs to go across," says Remo. However, he feels that the time has come for everyone in society to give his or her bit and stand up against this nexus. He feels it is the united efforts of everyone that can defeat the strongest mafia. "Everyone needs to give their bit in fight against drugs. I am giving my bit as a singer. It's our united efforts only, which will help us to curb this menace," says Remo. But Remo knows that his music solely can't change everything. Popularly known as a rock star Remo sang these songs in his shows where most of the drug users used to come. He felt that it was his duty as a singer to try his best. But it is these words of Remo, that still inspire lot of youths "I know my song can't change everything but I know one thing---every army needs a march band," says Remo. Remo has always fought against wrong doings and corruption in the society.
