Goa Government has to explain why Mr. Subodh Kantak is
the highest paid Advocate General in the country.
There is an urgent need to rationalize the very
exhorbitant fees being paid to Goa's Advocate General
by bringing it in line with other states.

While the Advocate General of Gujarat is paid Rs 700/-
per day per case for any effective hearing at the High
Court, the Advocate General of Goa takes home Rs
8000/-per case per day even if the matter is adjourned
at his request. The Advocate General of Maharashtra is
paid Rs 5000/- per case to a maximum of Rs 7000/- per
day irrespective of the number of cases he appears on
that day.

In Karnataka the Advocate General is paid Rs 1000/-
for the first case and Rs 250/- per case for the
remaining cases while the total fees payable for the
remaining cases cannot exceed Rs 10,000/- per day.

The unjustified huge payments going to the Advocate
General of Goa should be used to provide better
emoluments and benefits to the neglected Public
Prosecutors, Assistant Public Prosecutors and
District & Lower Court judges.
