The Executive Director of Sports Authority of Goa Shri V.M. Prabhudesai assured the 2 clubs, i.e. Panjim Badminton Club and Evening Badminton Group who were leading the "Roshanlal hatao" campaign, that he had brought up the case of Roshanlal Nahar's extension and the opposition to it from various quarters with the CM. The ED assured the 2 Clubs that no further extension would be given to Roshanlal Nahar and requested the clubs to defer any further action on the same.
During this interaction, PBC and EBG submitted another letter to the Executive Director, making their own recommendation for the post of the badminton coach that will fall vacant following the end of Roshanlal Nahar's contract The contents of the letter are as below: ************************** To, Shri V.M.Prabhudesai, Executive Director, Sports Authority of Goa, Campal, Panaji-Goa Date: 31-03-2008 Sub: Badminton Coach at Panjim At the outset, Panjim Badminton Club(& Evening Badminton Group) wishes to clarify that the Executive Director of Sports Authority of Goa Shri V. M. Prabhudesai has always been supportive to our club's events and activities and we have no doubts whatsoever in his personal sincerity and integrity. Panjim Badminton Club(& Evening Badminton Group) however specifically state that we are against any further extension being granted to Shri Roshanlal Nahar by the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) and we along with several other badminton Players/ fans have strongly objected to the same. A letter has already been addressed to the Chief Minister in this regard. We have also learnt through reliable sources that the SAI Coach Rajiv Bhargava has asked for his transfer out of Goa citing personal reasons and does not wish to continue in Goa. We therefore request the Sports Authority of Goa to take immediate steps in providing a permanent badminton Coach at Panjim, so that young budding players are not the sufferers. The one-year contract term of Roshanlal Nahar ends on 31st March 2008 and as such Panjim will have no coach till the vacancy is filled. Panjim Badminton Club(& Evening Badminton Group) therefore recommends to the Sports Authority of Goa that as a stop-gap arrangement, Mr. Roy Athaide, the NIS Coach who is presently posted at Peddem, Mapusa be given additional charge to train the shuttlers at Panjim. Several of our players have played under the able guidance of Mr. Roy Athaide at various Coaching Camps and we have full confidence in his coaching and training abilities. We request the Sports Authority of Goa to kindly consider our plea. Yours sincerely Shashant M. Naik President, Panjim Badminton Club & Evening Badminton Group and Sandeep Heble Joint Secretary, Panjim Badminton Club & Evening Badminton Group
