Devotees throng Mapusa church for Milagres feast   NT News Service
  
 
  Mapusa April 7
  Thousands of devotees including a large number of Hindu brethren today 
thronged Mapusa church for the feast of Our Lady of Miracles. A large crowd was 
seen at the church right from early morning when the masses began.
  The main celebrant for the concelebrated high mass, Fr Succoro Mendes 
highlighted the qualities of Mother Mary and urged the congregation to live a 
life like Mother Mary that always pleases God. Considering the large crowd 
masses were celebrated in a specially erected pandal outside the church. 
Devotees were later seen paying obeisance to Mother Mary in the form of 
offerings of flowers, wax and oil.
  The festive fare that has been put up outside the church consists of a large 
number of stalls of furniture, different household items, stalls of sweets and 
other general items. Vendors are also seen with grinding stones. These stalls 
will remain for a few days.
  Meanwhile, the 3-day Milagres fun fete got off to a start from today in the 
church compound. The fete includes various cultural and entertaining events. On 
April 10 a drama titled Rong will be held. On the other hand the Mapusa 
Municipal Council also organized its traditional Milagres Dance this evening.
