Dear Satyawan, I liked your concluding words - Satyamev Jayate, but sorry to say that you did not get the Satya and wrote below mentioned message which sounds more of Asatyamev Jayate!
I say this because of the following reasons: - You wrote: The dotor is asking questions about who is Goan but also adding that non Goans should not respond. So it means he knows who are non Goans. Then how he is asking question. Such people have always made fun of Bahujan Samaj. The real Goan is the one who is farming, fishing and doing the hard work. All the others are just residents of Goa. This residents of Goa are starting organisations like Lok Shakti and leaving when they are not getting the election ticket. Their temples are closed to us. their children are studying and working outside Goa. as Anand bab likes to say such people are armchair sermonistas. Shame on them that they dare to call themselves Goans. They have only I and have no identity. Satyamev Jayate. MY REPLY: - Satyawan, you are right! I know the answer as to who should be called Goan but that may not be an acceptable definition to most Goans. Therefore, I have been asking these three basic questions not only to Goanet but to all the possible forums to get the definitions which are acceptable to all Goans. My questions, I repeat, were: Who should be called a (true) Goan? What is Goan Identity? What is Goan culture? Secondly, Satyawan, I have never ever made fun or wrote anything against Bahujan Samaj. On the contrary I have more friends in Bahujan Samaj and in Catholic then Hindus. I quote this not to take any sympathy but trying to let you know the factuality and I still maintain that I am equally proud in the religion/caste in which I am born. I equally emphasize that you should also be equally proud in your religion/caste. Thirdly, you are absolutely wrong in attributing my association with Lok Shakti. Just because I am close friend of Lok Shakti members does not mean I am with them nor it means I agree to their ideologies. Friendship is totally a different issue. Having explained you this I must also say that from your message I did get one more definition about who should be called a Goan! According to you: The real Goan is the one who is farming, fishing and doing the hard work. All the others are just residents of Goa. Satyawan can you please elaborate on what you mean by - doing hard work! And please don't forget that Goans are also known as SUSEGAD!! And please don't forget the second line that you included in your definition of a Goan!! I would have been happy if you were to answer other two questions i.e. what is Goan Identity? What is Goan culture? Hope you will respond to me with your answers to other two questions. Best regards, Dr. U. G. Barad N. B.: I maintain, Non-Goans please don't respond to this message as these questions are meant to be answered only by Goans.
