Remo holds free concert to create awareness on global warming Calangute (Goa) (PTI): Pop singer Remo Fernandes on Sunday held a free concert to raise awareness on global warming which poses threat to coastline including Goa's premier beaches.
"If we don't do anything right now, in few years, the place where I am performing will be underwater," the singer told reporters appealing the masses to wake up to this cruel reality. Greenpeace, holding series of awareness programms in India's five major cities Kochi, Kolkotta, Mumbai, Chennai and Goa, had organized this one hour concert at Calangute beach. Remo had composed a special song for the concert which was an adaptation of his old song `Satisfaction'. "This song speaks of how Goa is being choked in garbage and plastic," the singer aptly dressed in complete green said. The singer, who received Padmashree award, has been on forefront of social campaigns including anti-drugs, anti-Goa regional plan. "Our governments are waiting for the things to happen so that they can act," he said. "It's a blue alert in Goa. We are pushing the government to save earth from the climate change. We won't be able to do anything once the change occurs," Greenpeace activist Amrut Bakshi stated.
