Upon visiting the Taj Mahal at Agra last month, my wife and I were challenged by the ASI employee at the entrance. He said "You look like an NRI" (he meant Foreign passport holder but being a lowly paid staffer was ignorantly using the term interchangeably).
He continued "Why have you bought a Rs. 20 ticket instead of the NRI ticket Rs. 750. Proove you are not an NRI he said. Show me your PAN card !" So for all you NRIs who are planning to visit the Taj Mahal and do not "look like an Indian" you have been warned. Carry your PAN card!
