The "Romi Lipi Action Front", has taken up the cause of Tiatrists with
regards to the increase in "Rent" of the Kala Akademi's, Dinanath Mangeshkar
Hall, at Panaji.
The Romi Lipi Action Front has in a letter to the Chief Minister, Shri
Digamber Kamat, today, requested him to treat "Konkani Tiatr" as a "special
case" & maintain the same "Rent" as was applicable, before 1st April 2008.
The Kala Akademi, in a recent letter to all Tiatrists, have informed them,
that the "Rent" for hire of the D.M Hall, is increased from Rs. 8000/- to
Rs. 13000/- (all inclusive), with effect from 1st April 2008.
In their letter, the R.L.A.F has explained to the Chief Minister, that the
rate of tickets of Tiatros is very low ie. Rs 60/- only, as most of the
people patronizing the Tiatro, belong to the middle class & lower middle
class.
If the rate of tickets is raised, then many people will stay away from
seeing tiatros.
This will be detrimental to the Goan Konkani Tiatro.
The letter also said that the Chief Minister has supported the cause of the
Tiatrist, on many occasions, and hence they feel confident, that the Chief
Minister will stand by the Tiatrists, this time also.
