Benaulim panch persuaded to withdraw resignation
MARGAO, APRIL 18 - The Sarpanch and panch members of Benaulim Panchayat on
Friday persuaded panch member, and noted tiatrist Menino de Bandar to
withdraw his resignation letter.
The Panch member had put in his papers after Thursday's gherao by members of
the Benaulim Villagers Action Committee, who were protesting against the
laying of water pipeline by the PWD for a mega housing project.
Sarpanch Maria Fernandes told Herald that though she has received the
resignation letter from Menino, efforts are on to persuade the member to
take back the letter.
Fernandes said she has personally spoke to Menino to do a re-think on the
resignation letter and exuded confidence that the panch member will heed to
the request of the Panchayat members.
So far, Menino has not withdrawn the resignation letter, and the members
hoped that he would take back his letter on Saturday.
