Our Valmiki takes after his namesakes, naturally.
The original thinker/writer dates to around 1000 BC. Legend has him commanded
by Brahma, the Supreme Creator, to " sing the praises of Ramah, and as long as
there are stars in the heavens, so long will thy song be sung ".
His epic, the Ramayana, runs into 24,000 verses, four times the length of
the Iliad ; The seven sections or cantos include the memorable Arayan Kanda.
Valmiki is also revered for his authorship of the Yoga Asistha.
