Dear John,
In your answer to Ms Zelma (reproduced below), you have written that "It is understood that the flights were cancelled due to shortage of aircraft." LET ME SAY HERE: ONLY ONE flight was operated from Dubai to Goa by Air India and ONLY ONE flight was operated by Indian Airlines from Sharjah to Goa. It is surprising why aircrafts on other sectors in other Indian states where Air India and Indian Airlines operate several flights a day not found extra and withdrawn while the ONLY ONE flight each by Indian Airlines and Air India to GOA were completely stopped for "shortage of aircraft." This does not seem to be a digestible statement. Does it? The Hon Commissioner for NRI Affairs is fully aware of the hardships to passengers including difficulties to senior citizens and babes in arms. He has taken up the matter at the highest level. The Air India (now NACIL) management are looking into this issue. It is understood that the flights were cancelled due to shortage of aircraft. On behalf of the Hon Commissioner I am addressing all the issues regarding direct flights to Goa and am looking into these issues.
