RESPONSE:
As Santosh and Rajan have rightly pointed out "Vedic Maths" is neither Vedic
nor real mathematics. But it is the statement about - Ayurveda and Homeopathy
being SIMILARLY devalued and under appreciated - that needs to be looked at.
All the three medical practices of Allopathy, Ayurveda and Homeopathy are
presently driven by market forces of an evergrowing industry. But the alarming
thing about the latter two is that they refuse to be put to test by saying that
they are above scrutiny because they are ancient, blah blah blah. Worse most
such practioners ignore investigative tests to determine what the ailment might
be. I know of many cases having gone awfully wrong because the patient was
being cured by Homoepathy while the actual affliction was not diagonised and
hence it detiorated to the point of no return. My late father-in-law would have
been alive for a longer period if not for his faith in Ayurveda and Homeopathy.
Allopathy too has its huge blemishes but it is available for scrutiny and
challenge. Also positive auto suggestions play a major part in cure.
Traditional medicine is something else. It is based on simple wisdom of using
natural resources. But more importantly it is about having healthy lifestyle
habits. For all of that we need to save our forests, our tribals, our farmers,
our environment. So let's do just that.
