RADIO MIRCHI CAMPAIGNS FOR A GREENER GOA

Goa's Number 1 radio station commemorated World Earth Day with a `Green is Cool, Mirchi's Hot' campaign consisting of multi-city activities in Goa aimed towards generating environmental awareness from April 21-27.

Commemorating World Earth Day with a `Green is Cool, Mirchi's Hot' All Goa community campaign conceptualized by Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM in partnership with Dempo Group of Companies, Goa State Bio-diversity Board and Goa Science Centre from April 21-27, the week long hugely successful community environmental festival involved mass audience participation from across Goa, giving Mirchi listeners yet another reason to come together for Goa.

Spread across Margao, Ponda, Vasco and Panjim, interesting highlights of the week long campaign included on-air Green Goa alerts, a Wealth-out-of-waste contest, messages by Goan environmentalists, celebrities, nature enthusiasts like Clinton Vaz, Alexyz, Mahendra Alvares, Mario Menezes, Rajendra Kerkar, Sunil Korazkar, Shirdhar Kamat Bambolkar, Shridhar Kamat, Prashanti Talpankar, Alexio Sequeira, Shrinivas Dempo and others celebrated their contribution towards working for a greener Goa. Innovatively packaged with screenings of nationally acclaimed award winning environmental films curated by Mike Pandey, multi-city children's drawing competitions, `Clean Your City Drive' across Goa and a wildlife photography exhibition showcasing the talent of Goan photographers Parag Rangekar, Pankaj Lad, Arnold Noronha and Prasad Pankar, the call for environmental conservation also saw 500 odd children enthusiastically putting colour to paper for a greener, healthier Goa.

Rasika Tognatta, Station Head, Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM, Panjim, said "We at Radio Mirchi believe in building a connect with our listeners at an emotional level as well. The campaign for a greener Goa was one such attempt of the many more to come soon," she added.

The event was supported by Goa Biodiversity Board, Dept of Science, Techonology & Environment - Govt of Goa, Big G & Funskool.
