The GEAG (Goa Environmental Action Group) has taken note of this Ponda
incident and we have first hand confirmation from the complainant (Mr. Mario
Coelho) and not his brother Mr. Oscar Coelho as reported in GT, that what
was reported is true and that the PI Mr. Manjunath Dessai is responsible for
the consequences.
GEAG is taking up this matter firmly with the filing of the 'Contempt of
Court' petition in the Bombay High Court at Goa shortly, w.r.t. the Suo
Moto Writ Petition 97 or 1997 whereby the Police will be taken to task for
not doing their duty and/or doing more than their duty (as in this case) as
was apprehended by the petitioner in the above writ petition 97 of 97. The
Chief Justice then has remarked thus (to the petitioner) "If you are not
satisfied, you can always come back to this Court" when the petitioner
(yours faithfully here) had told the Chief Justice in the open Court after
hearing the read out Order " Your Lordship, this Order seems to be
impotent, especially when the culprit is the Police".
The GEAG has also taken note of the report of extravaganza coupled with
noise pollution et al at he felicitation function in Vasco organised to
celebrate the Revenue Minister's Birthday. We congratulate Mr. Ignatius
Fernandes, Vasco, for the star letter GT - 3/May/08 captioned "Pleasing the
minister at what and whose cost...". It must be noted that nobody pleases
the ministers now-a-days but the ministers please themselves at the cost of
the public exchequer. No attempt must be made to treat this malignant cancer
that has proliferated Goa's 'vote-bank politics' but must be cauterised,
cut and thrown out once and for all. For that, it calls for a REVOLUTION.
And that revolution was cautiously and carefully germinated in the year 2000
with the birth of the Goa Su-Raj Party. Whether people like to hear this or
not, this is the hard reality and it will not be washed away easily as a
joke or just tall talk, because serious minded Goan intellectuals must
realise that the new thinking in the governmental administration which we
see nowadays, of and on , is just that. Example of the MOOT: Public
Relations Officers in every Govrnment department; Revamping of
Education/University; English Language compulsory in Primary Section; and
today's news report "EASING TRAFFIC ... Govt explores waterways .. are just
a few recipes definately borrowed from the Su-Raj's 'ROAD MAP FOR GOA'. We
shall be overjoyed if the entire Road Map is implemented for the good of
Goa. Who does it does not make a difference as long as Goa gets it and the
people get the benefits.
Our powerful slogan " If the God given resources of Goa (mineral deposits)
do not benefit Goa and the People of Goa, let these remain where they are
undisturbed and untouched" is the going to the the slogan that the
REVOLUTION that is oncoming will be built upon. Such a making of a
Revolution is seen through the agitations of the people of Carmona, Siridao,
Siolim, Aldona and now Moira (NT- 3/May/08), not forgetting the stand-out
example given to Goa by the people of Kundaim when they sent all the Panchas
of the Panchayat home and when they registered just one vote during the last
assembly elections in that particular booth.
