I enjoyed this article because it does touch upon two
ground realities in Goa, that of women being left
behind to raise families single-handedly and that of
professional Goan women being unable to find suitable
partners.
However, the above line mars the article because one
can't simply say that Goan women are a notch better
than their Indian counterparts. I have a great many
Indian women friends from Keralites to Tamilians to
Maharastrans, who will simply bowl you over with their
intellectual prowess, their accomplishments and their
breath of reading. Conversely many a Goan female leads
a very sheltered life and is unable to hold a
conversation on anything other than maids and babies.
Ofcourse there are many an accomplished Goan women,
but no more or no less than their Indian counterparts.
