Hundred percent results 11 May 2008, 0255 hrs IST,Anabelle Colaco,TNN PANAJI: Uday Bhalikar can't stop smiling. A few minutes after the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) results were announced on Saturday afternoon, the principal of Damodar Higher Secondary School of Science in Margao got to know that his college had once again scored cent percent results.
Up north, Fr. Paul D'Souza is similarly pleased as punch. Don Bosco Higher Secondary School of Science, Arts and Commerce, Panaji bagged a full score in commerce and over 90 percent in science and arts. D'Souza, the institute's head, says it was expected. In a first of sorts for Goa, 10 educational institutions from across the state recorded cent percent pass scores in certain streams. Of these, commerce was the highest at seven, science at two and vocational took one. While Damodar and Don Bosco got a clean score for their science and commerce streams respectively, Panaji's Mustifand HSS had an all-pass science class, while Holy Trinity HSS, Benaulim, which offers Arts, Commerce and Vocational degrees, recorded 100 percent results in the vocational stream. The colleges that took home the all-pass record for commerce are St. Theresa's HSS, Candolim; Our Lady of the Rosary HSS, Dona Paula; Shri Saraswati HSS of Arts and Commerce, Kavlem (Ponda); St. Thomas HSS of Science, Arts and Commerce, Aldona; Shri Bhumika HSS of Science, Arts and Commerce Parye, Sattari and R'Vir & Premavati Salkar HSS of Commerce and Arts, Chorao. Attributing Damodar HSS' success to the "excellent competence and co-ordinatination between the staff and management", Bhalikar said the quality of students made the difference. "Our cut off percentage for admissions is 82%. I can proudly say that our students are sought after by national level institutions after their XII boards every year," said Bhalikar. His words were echoed by Don Bosco HSS' D'Souza who said the institute's cut off of 60 per cent for the commerce stream at standard XI, assured a certain degree of smart students. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Goa/Hundred_percent_results/articlesh ow/3028918.cms ~(^^)~ Avelino
