Rajan P. Parrikar <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> asks: What is the fellow doing in Korgaon in the first place? The vermin has infected even the most rural & peaceful parts of Goa now.
== jc's response: I have a few thoughts on the matter. 1: As an Indian citizen, does this 'Dilliwallah' not have a right to be in Korgaon or any other part of Goa? He definitely does not have a right to assault anybody, but what exactly does Rajan Parrikar mean by the above question esp wrt the word "vermin"? 2: I ask (further), IF Panchayat Secretary Bhiva Thakur has a right to be in Korgaon, why not this 'Dilliwallah'? 3: Interesting that '100 residents of Korgao recently met to protest over the presence of a non-Goan, who has purchased a house and land in the village and have demanded a special gram sabha over the issue'. What are they planning to do after this 'gram sabha' - violate the Indian Constitution? I wonder if it would have been easier for Goa to protect its identity etc etc 4: IF a special status was negotiated by the alleged and real 'Freedom Fighters' before jumping up and down about getting India to invade Goa in 1961. Anybody cares to ask Lambert Mascarenhas, Chandrakant Keni et al? 5: IF the Communidade Laws (which preceded the Portuguese) were not summarily abolished by the Indian Army (Candeth) and replaced by this thing called 'Ponchayat'? 6: If Portuguese and Romi Konkani (as spoken and written in 1961) were retained as the lingua franca? 7: If the newspapers were not controlled (via newsprint laws) and not kept solely in the hands of mine-owners who had a vested interest? 8: If Bandodkar and his motley crew had not planned to merge Goa with Maharashtra - and filled Govt posts in Goa with deputationists - when suitable and qualified Goans were available to fill those posts? 9: If Willey, Babu Naik and Co had not opted to take orders from Delhi? 10. If Manohar Parrikar and his illustriously motley crew had not opted to take orders from Delhi ...and not to invite the Saffron Party to Goa for meetings, stays at Govt House and fund raising? 11: If Hindu and Catholic Goans had looked after each other and not tried to destroy each other? 12: If Goans had resisted the grab of their civilian airport and Anjadiva with its historic Catholic church? The fact is - what Rajan Parrikar is doing is educating us to the present scenario with photographic evidence. But some of us have been predicting this on GoaNet for the past 12 years at least ! Nobody took us seriously. In fact, we were castigated as "Nostalgic of Portugal', 'Portuguese boot lickers', and folks from 'Goa past'. What did Rajan Parrikar and his compadres do when Anjadiva left under Manohar's watch ....and Godfrey Gonsalves was crying hoarse? What are Rajan Parrikar and his compadres doing now ....after the Horses have bolted or swiped? Closing the stable doors with BandAid? I repeat - Too Late guys ....Just Too late. Go back to California and be in Peace with the belief that you tried ( albeit 20+ years too late). At least you tried. At last you came to the realisation. Now ...time to return to reality. Seriously and permanently divided for political purposes along religious fault lines by Bandodkar and that MGP crew ..... ...Goa has fallen already! Thank Bandodkar, Kakodkar, Willie, Babu Naik, Rane, George Fernandes, Luis Proto Barbosa, Manohar and Digu kaka et al for this ....but do not forget Lambert, Keni et al The other option is to put your head in the Goa sand (whatever is left of it) and believe that Goa is Paradise! I personally believe that Goa is 100% part of India and that every Indian citizen has every right to be in Goa and purchase property in Goa - Whatever these Gram Sabhas meet and decide. It is time to stop this repeated "Vermin" hate posts on GoaNet. Sincerely jc ***** http://oheraldo.in/pagedetails.asp?nid=3908&cid=26 PERNEM, MAY 12 –A native of Delhi but residing at Korgao-Pernem was arrested on charges of threatening to assault the panchayat secretary and panch. The incident occurred when Panchayat Secretary Bhiva Thakur issued a notice of illegal construction of a compound wall. The accused, Farukh Sheik, however, refused to accept the notice. He later rushed to the panchayat office and allegedly abused Mr Thakur and Pancha Rajmohan Shetye, besides attempting to assault them. Meanwhile, about 100 residents of Korgao recently met to protest over the presence of a non-Goan, who has purchased a house and land in the village. The locals have demanded a special gram sabha over the issue.
