Another shocking and indiscriminate atrocity has
befallen innocent civilian men, women and children in
India.
>
In the past, India, the original target of religious
terrorists, has put its head firmly in the sand, built
alliances with Iran, one of the world's biggest state
sponsors of terrorism, and stayed out of the global
war on terror, as if they are above all that.
>
In the past, Indians were most proud that, after every
such heinous incident, everything goes back to normal
within 24 hours. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief
that they survived. Everyone, that is, except the
friends and families of the dead, whose lives are
scarred forever. That is nothing for a country to be
proud of, after decades of such incidents, with a few
dozen to a few hundred innocent Indians killed each
time. Where will the next one be?
>
The first responsibility of a nation is to protect its
most vulnerable citizens. It is high time India shed
its pious pacifist delusions and formally joined the
global war on terror.
