Hema ,

Your article is worth reading only and it's not something new, i guess most of
the articles on goanet are meant for reading only . I only hope since elections
are round the corner you are not intending to jump into the fray with such
fiery speeches, i would like to ask you where have you been all these years ,
the burning issues mentioned by you were not yesterday's creation , but they
have been there for long time the only difference bigger sharks are now seen
compared to many years back.

I really enjoy listening to your songs during the hey days at Haystack and i
respect you for that as well as making it internationally which is a pride to
GOA and Goans, but my sincere request to you not to politicise any burning
issues what GOA is undergoing , your statement you are ready to come on the
streets etc are worth reading again but we have heard all that don't just make
speeches , action action and only action is required.

You can't blame entirely on outsiders for ruining Goa most of the blame lies on
us Goenkars who are busy looking for greener pastures in the middleast, Europe
and other places ,and then they start crying and shouting that outsiders are
looting Goa and spoilng the image. Goans settled overseas too have bought
houses, land and many other immovable properties but they are embraced by the
locals very well but when an outsider settles in Goa we are dead against it,
what sort of philosphy are we adopting and following , the problem is not with
outsiders but with Goans and we are not ready to accept it , rather than
correcting ourselves we are looking dirt in other's eyes, if we shun away
outsiders who will remain in Goa?

Let's be proactive and face reality not live in a dream world.I did not quiet
get you when you mentioned people longing for Portuguese to come back and
restart the colonial rule , this statement should not have come from a broad
minded lady like you who has seen the world , we hate portuguese rule but ready
to apply for a portuguese passport and travel to UK/CANADA/and other places for
greener pastures and yet criticize, what a hypocratic attitude and behaviour.

I would only end up saying all is well said than done.

Wish you luck

Sunil Monteiro
