Hello All
I am writing to request and with your (including little people)agreement that
the name of World Goa Day be changed to GOA DAY? a day to reflect our homeland
preserving our culture and traditions with friends and neighbours wherever we
live in an ever changing society. For example the death of Scarlet Keeling RIP.
in Goa highlighted a youngster with one mother within a family unit of
different surnames due to different fathers not unusual in England in contrast
to the Goan Family with one surname usually being split into citizens and
passport holders of various countries around the world. The Indian Government
through its NRI/PIO/NIO schemes is about identity and should be embraced. On
Monday UK Members of Parliament gave the all clear for Women to have children
without Fathers. What happens when the child who may be a Goan has to fill in
an India Visa Form the Section of Fathers Name...........or the ofspring of
third generation Goans living abroad whose parents will
have no connection with India and Goa because their Granparents did not sort
out the Identity question. Apart from the carry on dancing abroad where our
people gather to foget their troubles to preserve and feast on traditional
dishes and music before they die out there are plenty of issues that seek
soloutions perhaps through goanet postings as ever you may care to share.
