GFA announces team for Santosh trophy            Margao, May 24: The Goa 
Football Association on Saturday announced a 20-member squad for the 62nd 
Santosh trophy football tournament to be held in Jammu and Kashmir from May 25 
to June 25, 2008. 

The squad will be led by Valeriano Rebello. The other players in the team 
include Felix d`souza, Gerald d`mello, Samir Naik, Micky Fernandes, Freddy 
Mascarenhas, John Dias, Cresson Antao, Nicolau Borges, Joaquim Abranches, 
Denzil Franco, Rowilson Rodrigues, Fulgencio Cardozo, Nicholas Rodrigues, Peter 
Carvalho, Milagree Gonsalves, Joseph Pereira, Rupesh Desai, Francis Fernandes 
and Felipe Gomes. Mauricio Alfonso (coach), Peter Vales, Ceaser Machado and DR 
Satyendra Kumar are the other officials.

The team will leave Goa on May 26 by flight to Delhi and will stay there 
overnight before proceeding to Jammu and Kashmir, where they play their first 
match against Meghalaya on May 29 and latter take on Uttarakhand on June 3.

The travelling and staying of team will be looked after by their sponsor 
"Budweiser". Rob Newman, sales and marketing director of Budweiser in India 
said "Budweiser" is proud to support the Goan team as they battle it out for 
the Santosh trophy. Football is the world`s favourite sport, and in India, it 
is growing in popularity.

"Since the launch of Budweiser in July last year, we have been involved in 
several football activities, lending our support to matches in Goa, and 
organizing our very own 6x6 amateur football tournament, the Budweiser Cup. We 
wish the Goa football team all the very best," said he.

Coach Mauricio Afonso who had a successful season this year, winning the Goa 
professional league, I-league and a prized spot in the AFC cup quarter-finals, 
the Dempo Sports Club coach is now eyeing of winning the Santosh trophy for the 
fifth time.

"Our team is mixture of youth and experience. I have faith in my boys who show 
lot of promise and I am confident that they will deliver the good. We have lot 
of promising talent and I am happy with the way things have gone so far," said 
Afonso who played a crucial role in the three Goan triumphs at the Santosh 
trophy twice as a player and then as a coach taking the team to victory in 2005.

On missing some key players, Afonso said Anthony Pereira is injured.

"I would have loved to have Mahesh Gawli and Climax Lawerence but they wont be 
available."
