2008/5/25 CORNEL DACOSTA <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: [1.] The problems generated by migrants moving into areas of work are to be found all over the world ..... Much has been learned from such experience and many of the 'remedies' used elsewhere can be used in Goa too. [2] Gated accommodation is not simply about individuals putting a fence around their properties. Gated .....accommodation that markedly divides the haves from the have nots. [3] Finally, I don't believe this discussion between us is going anywhere
== jc's response: When I grow up, I will use the excuse in [3] above, to duck out of explaining the practical implementation of any arm-chair solutions that I might offer. Cornel refers to these 'remedies' but does not tell us WHAT they are, whether they were successful, WHERE, If the problem can be comparable to Goa's problem ..and HOW these 'remedies' can be implemented in democratic countries (as opposed to communist countries. He speaks about the 'divide' between the Haves and the Have nots ....another of the pet lines of Marxist theorists who rarely practice their theoris. Does not driving an expensive car e.g. BMW or a Mercedes or a Lexus represent a divide between the Haves and the Have nots? Cornel has yet to explain the legal or ethical reasons for not enjoying privacy on one's own private land - as long as one's actions do not block public access to public facilities e.g. the beach, well, church etc. Some other Marxist theorist will tell me next, that we should not have doors for our houses. WHY? because it represents a 'divide' between those who can afford a house and those who are homeless. jc
