Oscar stands by interim report

PANJIM, MAY 28 - Contrary to the stand taken by co-convenor of Goa Bachao Abhiyan on the interim report of Regional Plan, GBA convenor Dr Oscar Rebello today affirmed that he stands by the interim report.

Dr Oscar who returned from a holiday today, expressed surprise that a statement had been issued raising objections to the interim report in his absence and without his knowledge.

"I stand by whatever is mentioned in the interim report. Patricia Pinto and Ritu Prasad have done a commendable job and so also many other members of the Task Force," he said.

It's a progress report and not final report, he pointed out while stressing that improvements are definitely required. He said "we must see for modalities and constructive inputs to get 73rd and 74th Amendments working vis-à-vis the Regional Plan. We must continue to look for solutions that will be acceptable to all."

To a question whether there is rift in the GBA, Dr Oscar said "if members are unhappy with me as the convenor over my performance, they can remove me (as the convenor)."

He however emphasised the importance of the organisation saying "Please keep GBA alive."
