to Goa. :-)

Dear Selma,

I am not so sure that Goans will tire of activists as much as be thoroughly
confused by them.

The average Goan who either has to work for a living or is back home for a
break after a struggle on board the ship or in the Gulf is more likely to
say (him/herself) that Goa has become Kui. Let me go to Kanada or Canada,
Delhi or Dilli (East Timor) or beshtest still ...try forget all this by
drinking Port in Porto.

Over the past 20 years+, Goans have been presented (in the Noojpapers and
now on TV) with this Bandh, that Abhiyan, Andolan, Bandollan another Manch
and a whole lot of 'Panch', Sabha, Talathi, and even Marathi in our Konkani.

Then there are the puppeteers: ALL of whom profess their deep love for Goa.
You have the corrupt lot whose claim to fame is that they are better than
the corrupt and communal lot. The corrupt and communal lot are beating their
breasts about Corruption and the sale of Goa - as though this was not going
on during their own tenure.

We have other activists who jump up and down and try to bring every elected
government down. Looks like when they don't get what they want - they go
phattack. BTW: Do GoaNetters know of any honest and untainted lawyer in Goa
today? If you find one - please advise me. I'd like to ask him/her a Margao
"church" related question. It is something I have been hearing about during
my travels to the US. I was asked whether it was Grace or just a disGrace.

In the mean while, the good old Zhalaach Pahije doctrine of Bandodkar's MGP
has been adopted by whoever can grab whatever land and do whatever with it.

So then what do we do?

We blame the whole thing on Oscar. Yep ....that is a good punching
bag....or bring some DTV to host a pitiful Scarlet show on the beach - and
have Ministers give really zonk responses ...and allow Goa and Goans to be
made a fool of. The only person who made sense in the broadcast, Floriano
Lobo - was swiftly dismissed by a Bhallem TV presenter who probably knows
zip about Goa.

And NOBODY thought that it would have been better (and still is) to utilise
the experience, knowledge and expertise of the Goa Foundation which has been
struggling for so many years - and has had success.

Brilliant.
