11 Goan students get into IITs NT NETWORK PANAJI â€" The number of Goan students clearing the entrance test for admission to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) touched double figure, this year, with 11 of them having doors of the prestigious institution opened for them. At present, there are seven such technical institutes in the country, located at Mumbai, Delhi, Madras, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Guwahati, and Rurki, besides IT BHU at the Banaras Hindu University. Altogether 9 out of 11 students who cleared the test were trained by the Aryan Study Circle; the topper in the group, Arun Mallya securing 192nd all India rank among the 8,000 students selected for admissions to the IIT. Altogether, 3.20 lakh students across the country had appeared for the IITJEE, seeking admissions to the institutes. Raunak Sakhardande, Akhilesh Khope, Rohit Dhume, Sampat Desai, Ganapati Bhat, Rahul Prabhu and Yashank Sakhardande are other students in the group who have cleared the IIT entrance test. Kewal Ramani has also cleared the test. and has been included in the extended list of the IIT. Mr Venkatesh Prabhudesai of Aryan Study Circle, addressing a press conference on Friday, said that the number of Goan students clearing the IITJEE is steadily increasing. “It is good to see that out of the 200-250 Goan students who had appeared for the IITJEE, this year, 11 have managed to clear the entrance test,†he added, pointing out that the nature of the entrance test is fully objective and based on concepts.
