I would like to draw the attention of all persons part of this network that this year's World Environment Day function on June 5th has been, by unanimous choice, been shifted to Colomba, Rivona, south Goa. The public meeting will commence at 10.00 am. This is a great opportunity for all those concerned about the environment and about the destructive mining activities of Goan mining companies (legal and illegal) to show their solidarity with villagers in mining areas who stand to lose life and livelihood. Colomba village will be completely extinguished if the 23 mines allowed by the Portuguese in the village are allowed to operate. Some have already started operations. The Government of aam aadmi is fully supporting the mining companies. Please therefore decide to attend in significant numbers. Come down to Margao, then move to Quepem. From there Colomba village is a short distance.
