Is this an unsolicited communication from a genuine Portuguese law firm or just another internet scam.
My dear Roland, A couple+ of points a: I was once in a Bombay restaurant which apparently was "sold" by a person who did not own it. Confusao occured when the new "owner" came to take possession. b: Sure such land deals and 'conversions' could take place in Goa as a Mundcar or alleged Mundcar sells of someone else's property and a fourth party starts building on it with No Objection Certificate from the Ponchayatt or some Gram Sabha or Garam Masala. Back to this email from the Portuguese 'advogados'. c: Many are knowledgeable of the Law. Many more are knowledgeable of Goan suckers who will part with money for a Portuguese passport. There also are 'fake passport' merchants around. d: I believe that he who sends money without a written and signed contract for services, gives that money as a gift. e: I was a bit concerned about the following wrt the date 'before 25th April 1976'. I then noticed the words "The interpretation that we make from the Portuguese Law". Interesting. [ 1. The interpretation that we make from the Portuguese Law is that all those people that were born in the former Portuguese State of India before 25th April 1976 and their descendants until the third generation are Portuguese, even that the descendants were born abroad.] f: In any event, those who are interested are invited to read the article on Portuguse Nationality by Paulo Colaco Dias http://www.colaco.net/1/PauloNationality.htm g: Please understand that the Portuguese Government appear to be willing to honour their responsibility to accord their nationals (from Goa, Damao e Diu) the rights to nationality BUT are unwilling to trust the BOGUS certificates issued in India. h: If the Portuguese are not careful, a ton of Gujratis will claim to be from Portuguese Damao and Diu and claim the right to Portuguese nationality - the same with sardars and others ....from Goa. i: That is why the machinery has come to a near stand-still ....and possibly genuine applicants are stranded. All because the documents issued in India are considered suspect. Please see Dead Men Flying: http://www.colaco.net/1/DeadMenFlying.htm Chandrakant Keni basically saying KICK out those who apply for Portuguese citizenship. Is this the xenophobic guy that Parrikar appointed as NRI commissioner or whatever? http://www.colaco.net/1/KeniBunkPort.htm Some hurdles for Goans to overcome while obtaining Portuguese Nationality in 2006 by Livia de Abreu Noronha http://www.colaco.net/1/LiviaAbreuPortNationality06.htm good wishes jc
