"With Coastal Regulatory Zone (CRZ) issues gaining prominence following the
threat of demolitions looming large in coastal areas, efforts are on to launch
a joint agitation against State-level authorities to protect their structures"
COMMENT:
Yet another agitation is in the pipelines but this time it is to protect the
villagers from threatened demolitions of violations to the CRZ rules.
Doubtless, some panchayat has been bribed into turning a blind eye while these
illegalities were being constructed and now that they have come under the
scanner, just round-up enough people to protest, have them regularised and
everything will continue just as it always does in Goa. These are the same
panchayats and gram sabhas that are demanding that planning powers be devolved
to them.
The reason Goa has become a land of lawlessness is because each and every one
of us is responsible for flaunting the law whether it be at a senior level or
to satisfy our own petty and immediate needs.
