To Goanet - Wed, June 4, 2008, Panjim: Today, a delegation of Goa's Movement Against SEZs (GMAS) led by Convener Matanhy Saldanha met Chief Minister Digambar Kamat at his official residence and sought from him answers about the latest goings-on in the SEZ saga.

But GMAS pointed out to the CM that in the recent court hearing, the Goa govt did not field any legal expert from its side. GMAS impressed upon the CM that there are more than sufficient grounds of illegalities to cancel the 3 notified SEZs, that no compensation should even be considered to the SEZ promoters. GMAS also stands by its earlier demand that the land given to the SEZ promoters be reverted to the GIDC. GMAS demanded that the CM settle the SEZ de-notification issue within the next 7 days. Meanwhile, GMAS has decided to hold public meetings in different parts of the state to keep people abreast of the developments in order to be ready to fight back if the govt. fails to de-notify the 3 SEZs and cancel the SEZ policy in the state.
