To Goanet - Yesterday in Nerul, I came across an orchard primed for fresh construction. Upon inquiry, I was told that it is a project for several villas (there were no boards anywhere on the site as required by law) and that the fellow behind it all was the same notorious bhailo (of the "Helipad in Nerul" fame, who bought his old house in Nerul for a song from a Mozambique-based Goan). This is also the same fellow who wants to set up a casino in Mandovi.
In the clearing, several mango trees have been laid low. The pictures - http://www.parrikar.org/images/Nerul/nerul-1.jpg http://www.parrikar.org/images/Nerul/nerul-2.jpg http://www.parrikar.org/images/Nerul/nerul-3.jpg http://www.parrikar.org/images/Nerul/nerul-4.jpg http://www.parrikar.org/images/Nerul/nerul-5.jpg It doesn't take much these days for a bhailo to establish his dominion over a Goan village. A few lakhs of pocket change will take care of your favourite sarpanch and panch. And the rest of the village can be won over with a donation for an ugly new chapel or temple. Around 100 metres from this location, by the Sinquerim river, this sight on a forested hill, looking in the direction of Candolim. I hear all of them are occupied by wealthy bhaile - http://www.parrikar.org/images/Nerul/nerul-6.jpg http://www.parrikar.org/images/Nerul/nerul-7.jpg And then this, on the Sinquerim river. No boards, no nothing to identify the project - http://www.parrikar.org/images/Nerul/nerul-8.jpg So - who is going to look into this and put in an RTI application with the Nerul panchayat? Surely we can't bother those brave souls halfway around the world who have the important task of critiquing and dissenting? Besides, they knew 100 years ago that all this would come to pass. It is all Bandodkar's fault, that evil communal Hindu. The GBA? Are you kidding man? Its blue-eyed convener doll has better things to do such as getting itself nominated for another award for having saved Goa. A complete stop on all C & C (Construction and Conversion of land) right NOW is absolutely essential. Else Goa is finished. Warm regards, r
