Dear Francis-bab,
As they say the plot thickens! :-)
Your link was fascinating. I first heard about this idea many years ago and
then it sort of disappeared into thin air, I had no idea it was Canadian thin
air that it disappeared into :-) It has resurfaced once again and my first
reaction is one of joy.
But wait, hark, what yonder light breaks from the dawn, as Shakespeare would
say. A township such as this is nothing more than a glorified NRI gated
community. Now, I have nothing against gated communities. The first gated
communities were residential colonies, brought to India by the erstwhile
British colonials. Hence even today, one of the big perks from a job in the
Indian railway is the gated colony residence you get to live in. Just trying to
play devil's advocate :-)
I would ask you to sign me up as well, except for the fact that Daddy was
shrewd enough to invest in property way back then and we ain't selling to
nobody. I have this dream that I'll build a small retreat house and library for
writers, on part of it, one day when I'm old or rich or both. :-) Pipe dreams
maybe but hopefully not concrete ones.
take care,
selma
