That's the number of land conversions (of 500 sq metres and more *) from Sept 2007 to now in the 6 talukas under the jurisdiction of the Collector (North). I found this out quite by accident yesterday. Looks like a group of politicos has been making a pile of money on this while flushing Goa down the drain. Recently the Revenue Minister has decreed that files for all conversions have to stop by his desk. You can translate what that means. All this talk about saving Goa is useless until and unless we put a complete stop to all land conversions, and investigate the conversions done in the past 6-8 years. (*) Areas less than 500 sq are handled by the Dy Collector's office. r
