There are as many superstitions as there are priests in Goa! The fav one is the crow cries signalling the arrival of news. This was particularly signifant since in the villages in the old days, families waited for news from East Africa and the ships (tar-waar). Today, there are internet cafes in every village. Times have changed. The other (I love this since its a culinary delight, I'll explain later) is eating yesterdays curry will bring showers on thy wedding day. Day old curry in a kuneem tastes better than freshly made curry because the spices blend! I do not recall many weddings where it rains but one celebre wedding with a grand buffet like no other and in those days, Goa's most famous singing voices and a top band was wrecked by a thunderstorm....that knocked the electricity off. The electricity was gone for the evening, the buffet was consumed in confusion and the famous voices sang with uncertainty as thunder and lightning fluttered. I never had and will ever ask the groon what his curry prefrences are.
