The International Goan Convention should welcome issues like the Church vis-a-vis Caste, What the Goans gave Kenya, Honour Killings and anything that the Goanet anti-Brahmin lobby may like to raise. People should be free to say what niggles them. The Convention could provide an excellent opportunity for any young Brahmin seeking to pick soft scholarship material researching the pain and pathos of some aggrieved non-Brahmins. Attendes who have read the brain rot drivel on Goanet could then decide if an extra comfort break of fresh air is preferable to hot air.
Whatever the Brahmins maybe guilty of, it is unlikely that Brahmins are likely to renounce their caste to the chargings of the anti-Brahmin free masonry. Confusing Archbishop Desmond Tutu like forgiveness and olive branches with threats, proclamations and declarations has no track with Brahmins. Whatever the Brahmin problem may appear to be, I can say for myself simply: 1. I am a Brahmin. I was born a Brahmin. My children are Brahmins. 2. I am a Hindu. I was born a Hindu. I find the culture and philosophy of 'Live and let Live' very agreeable. 3. I am a Christian. I grew up in the faith but never bound by the faith. I have no faith That is all there is to it. I do not have a problem with it. Everyone has a right to respect for his private and family life and his home. Those who have a problem with that should accept that or get used to it. The Convention would also provide a good opportunity for young Brahmins seeking information from Brahmins who may feel a need for a Networking System of particular interest to Brahmins. No matter where Brahmins find themselves, a Brahmin is a Brahmin first and anything else afterward. Knowing that a person is a Brahmin reveals more information at first then a personsr social honours, qualifications and titles. Spare a thought for the poor young persons in the matrimonial ads ignoring their caste. Brahmins are the world over. I recall reading a posting by some wag in Goanet that one such Brahmin lived under a stone in the Canadian Shield :))). Brahmins are notoriously immovable and poor networkers - part of their psyche I guess. Patently clear and to their credit Brahmins contemptuously ignore responding to the vitriol and bilge directed at them on Goanet. Check it out. Brahmins did not have a problem within narrow geographical boundaries and social groups but in a gobal world there is a need to recast themselves. The World may be an oyster but there are dangers too. There are problems of adjustment to dispersal, dilution and culture creep. Brahmins are not immune to these problems. It may be possible to lose Goa and yet make gains in India and the World. .
