Who in their right mind would want to do PhD when they can get a job?
Santosh said to my above statement:
1. Those who seek jobs that require a PhD degree as a minimum qualification.
2. Those who enjoy living a life making original contributions to the
advancement of knowledge.
3. Those who enjoy educating future generation of job seekers who seek jobs
that require at a minimum a college degree in many countries of the world.

Hi Santosh,
That may be so, to justify your argument.

I classify them as lazy bums doing NO productive work.
Therefore PhD is a walk in the park.

Results of PhD?
No dirty hands like Engineers, No responsibilities lake an MBBS would have etc.
Only when they realise that PhD has been a waste of time do they go and do
field work which they would have and should have done in the first place, thus
contributing productive work to mankind from an early stage.

1.Who looks for PhD as a employee, those with PhD so that they can mix like
with like (I scratch your back you scratch mine).
2. What is 'original contribution' attributed to PhD? NONE.
As Sir Isac Newton had said, I have gained knowledge because I stood on the
shoulders of giants (great men). ORIGINAL CONTRIBUTION IS DONE BY SCIENTISTS.
Original contributors are people with practical abilities and
instinct, not PhD.PhD people are copy cats.
3. Refer to reply to No. 1. (Learning is not necessarily - knowledge. One can
learn to be a PhD and still have no knowledge of ones surroundings, because it
was not in his PhD syllabus).
ED.
