The pen down strike by government employees for parity in pay scales is illegal
and an added misery to the general public. The government should invoke the
Essential Services Act, give them 48 hours to return to their work and suspend
those who refuse. Substitute them by able Goan unemployed youth and absorb them
later. This will be a good move to employ our Goan youth. The ‘Aam admi” is
taken for granted by these government employees. During normal working days
itself they do not work. For a simple certificate they make you waste 2 or 3
days, if you are lucky. For other formal things, sometimes years. They are not
there to serve the public, but to boss over them. I don’t recollect seeing a
single government employee who is courteous and helpful. They have been
pampered by the politicians and think they can get away with everything. This
is what you call ABUSE of employment.
The NGOs should counter strike this illegal harassment met out to all Goan
public. The administration should lock out all these employees, or mark
attendance at the end of the day for those who worked. The pen down employees
should be marked absent and disciplined.
