Proposal to retire govt staff at 58
NT NETWORK
PANAJI — Just as the government employees are all set to proceed on an
indefinite pen down/ tool down strike from June 13, the government is seriously
considering bringing down the retirement age of its employees from 60 to 58, in
order to relieve the state exchequer from the additional burden of Rs 80-odd
crore resulting from bringing parity in the government pay scales. It may be
recalled that the Goa Government Employees Association had demanded parity in
government pay scales............................

Couple of thoughts on this:

If this does in fact happens -

Younger blood "may" infuse a new purpose and renewed enthusiasm into the system.
Lots of youngsters "may" remain in Goa instead of flooding the exit gates Goa
Goa "may" see the percentage of educated sons-of-the-soil increasing in gov't
positions
Many of the works that now take months and years "may" take shorter time frame.

These are just a few of my humble thoughts. I am sure many of us on this list
will have more to say...........

Cheers
