Dear Goans

Ref the below article in the economic times. Well Done & Thanks Rajan. Will
the rest of us learn from his example. Even ONE can make a difference. It
is easy to sit back and criticise Goans working hard for Goa. I challenge
these negative ANTI- GOAN critics to start acting constructively or at least
think positively.

PANAJI: No more sleeping, cooking or even loitering and squatting in the
open in Goa's capital and definitely no "nuisance", the corporation of
Panaji has warned.

Panaji, one of the smallest state capitals of the country was once a
sparkling clean city awash with Mediterranean colours. Now its corporation
has set up an enforcement squad that will also take on "any other act
resembling nuisance in public places". It will focus on gardens, footpaths,
roadsides, beaches and bus stands.

A five-member enforcement squad was set up after the corporation
commissioner signed the order. It is to be assisted by four policemen. The
squad will work from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The order came after returned expat and engineer Rajan Parrikar of Miramar
neighbourhood moved the high court in a public interest suit, urging that
Panaji authorities be asked to maintain public hygiene, sanitation and
cleanliness.
