It is very surprising the way people are targeting Mr. Manohar Parrikar for
his statement or information he has given to the Police about some naxalite
activities simmering in mining areas of Goa as he is duty bound to do so
being the Chairman of the Ad-Hoc house committee on Home Affairs.

The police have been in the knowledge of these activities and have in
camera accepted that they are having some information of naxal activites and
are keeping a vigil on the same. It is their duty to nip the naxal activity
in the bud before the same spreads to the entire state and converts the
peace loving Goan populace into terror activists.

I have been noticing some goanetters have been neglecting the primary issue
of naxalite activity in mining areas and have been diverting and defending
the activists. Every citizen / group has a right to protest against any
issue they feel is legitimate or in public interest. However the protests
should be democratic and non-violent. We should oppose the illegal mining
activities rampant in Goa but inciting violence cannot / should not be the
means to do the same.

Goa depends on tourism as a source of revenue. If we are to allow such
terror activities to grow or simmer here then we better look for alternate
source of revenue. Kashmir has faced a similar fate. The scars of
terrorism take a long time to fade.

By attacking Mr. Parrikar goanetters are helping these naxals. What is
surprising is that there is not a single post to suggest the possibility of
such activities.

We should force the police to investigate in the allegations and present a
white paper on the same. It makes more sense to see and react to what is
said rather then who has said.

The person in the news Mr. Seby Rodrigues has in the past in his blog
mentioned his address as Jharkhand which is a known area for naxal
activities. He should welcome any probe in his activities and antecedents.
If he comes out clean, it will help him in his mission against the illegal
mining activities.
