Hill cutting and other activities goans do not want reportedly continue. We
see huge Casino boats in the crowded and polluted Mandovi river, and Government
wants FIVE of them! Ferries are suddenly stopped without notice (At Betim just
one Ferry generally goes up and down whilst at the workshop, 5 promised
ferryboats lie idle), footbridge access at Aquem is suddenly sealed, also
without notice causing riots. Children at Nuvem are protesting monsoons
flooding making access to school hazardous. Saligao residents protest garbage
blocked drains, Margao residents furious at changes in ODP introduced without
their knowledge and likewise generally all Government Department Minutes are
not properly written or doctored. Its "business as usual". PWD miserably fails
in pre monsoon works. Police and GSPCA at loggerheads. Traffic chaos and
robberies continue to go unchecked satisfactorily. The Courts and authorities
issue orders for removal of illegal
hoardings along Highway, but in North Goa authorities are unable to execute
it quickly.Municipalities and Panchayats cannot solve garbage problems etc.
Sort of paralysis where one arm of the government doesn't know or care to back
up what the other arm is doing.During the "pen down" strike,I heard people
asking how many employees normally have the pen working in their hands ? I see
Philip Neri and Madkaikar representing us at Cannes.Politicians are jostling
for grandoise "development" plans and lucrative positions . Most Primary
Health Centres PHCs) unhealthy. Bicholim PHC Committee threaten to resign if
such conditions continue. The common man still has to run from pillar to post
unless he has a politician or godfather to support him. Those trying to change
this rotten System and exploitation, are now termed naxalites or the Empire
unfairly strikes back at them. If it was not for the Press and public
awareness, I shudder to think of our
fate.People are disillusioned and getting very angry.I pray this suffering and
frustration does not get to boiling point and erupt violently.
