I absolutely agree with Anil.
An accounting of all that goes on in the public arena - must be placed
on record.
I used to read the Goa Observer. However, about two years ago, I found
it to be totally and sometimes unreasonably only anti-Manohar Parrikar
.... and just gave up - Even though I still had months on my
subscription. Quite frankly, it offended my intelligence.
I can understand it when criticism is justified and balanced. I cannot
and will not even try to understand it when it is biased and one
sided.
This is NOT to say that Manohar Parrikar is any Devata of mine. Far
from it. His Nero like responses during (amnong others) the Neri
hijack incident, the Mapuca hotel fracas, the Signature forgery case,
the inflammatory communal VCD, and the Fontainhas vandalism case
...told me that even Parrikar (the intelligent one - on whom I had
pinned so much hope for Goa) was tainted.
Surprising that educated individuals posted that pro Parrikar
advertisement in Goa newspaper - without organising a non-return to
past nonsense!
So here Goans are - caught between the Rock and a Hard place. One side
Corrupt, the other side Corrupt and Communal. They (I believe) will
take their respective turn in liberating Goa of its wealth, language,
culture and environment.
As far as I am concerned, the entire bunch are Alibaba's mates. Anyone
show me open accounting of ANYONE he/she wishes to defend and I will
stand corrected.
While we are on this exercise - let us find out too - re the last 10 years
1: Which people and guests have stayed at the Cabo - and how much of
Goa funds were spent on each.
2: How much was collected in Goa as contribution for political party
purposes. There are sufficently loud whispers (read grumbling) that
certain Goa entities paid / had to pay close to 100 lakhs each to
party leaders visiting Goa.
Don't know if this is true or nor BUT ...let's have open accounting.
Then alone will we know the full extent of the truth or rumour.
We also need to know what the Quid pro Quo was.
With all the Hera-Pheri going on for the past decades, I suppose it
can be said that we are still waiting for the 18th of June. Or may be
we should wait for Dec 19 when we can have another round of glorious
speeches and parampara.
That I believe was a few days ago.
