New Goa’s own ‘Madame Tusauds’ or Wax Museum but where is it? Yes, Goa has it’s own Wax Museum (Wax Wrold) which is then second in India after Ooty.
But where in Goa it is ? Those of you from Goa and who read newspapers may say.. Don’t know Joe? It’s in Old Goa. But where exactly in Old Goa? This question most probably will have no answer even from those who read all 4 Goan English dailies. Will the taxi drivers know it? Or any tourist guide books will able to tell us about it? The answere is ‘No’ As the Wax museum is very new which is only opened yesterday - on 5th July 2008. Similarly, many regular columns appears in English dailes e.g Sunday Navhind Times –Panorama Magazine where writers or historians like Prajal Sakhardande, Pilgaokars etc write lengthy articles on Goa’s history with picture such as heritage buildings, churches, temples, mosques, forts etc etc but what they do not write is the exact place or how to get there or a near by landmark like tall tree, a house, a cow shed, a pond, a garage, a cross etc etc. They don’t even write their contact Numbers nor any email Ids. How the people or the reader supposed to know ? By phoning the Editors or newspapers? At least on two accessions, after reading Prajal’s articles, we made on the spot decisions to visit the featured spot/ landmark. One of them is ChandorGoa Fort Wall. We went there only to find there is no wall. Nor the villagers knew or heard anything about it nor the local people or the taxi drivers are aware of it. Imagine, we were almost there and yet come back home disappointed. Also, think about the time lost and the money (Rs.1200 Taxi etc). A year later, we re-visited the Chandor Fort Wall with the help of college History Students. Now, where exactly is this wax museum or the Wax World in Goa? It was said that ‘The last Supper’ with Jesus and 12 apostles was one of the best in the Wax World in Goa. It’s 22 feet long and with 500kg of wax.
